The Rotary Club of Uptown Kampala, in partnership with the Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA), successfully concluded a 10-day Free Medical Camp at the UMA Annual Trade Fair held from 2nd to 11th October 2026 at the UMA Show Grounds, Lugogo.
The camp, held under the theme “Quality Healthcare for Every Community,” registered over 1000 patients who received comprehensive, professional healthcare completely free of charge.
Every year, the UMA Trade Fair brings together over 10,000 visitors daily, from business owners and exhibitors to families, students, boda riders, and casual visitors. The Rotary Club of Uptown Kampala noted that behind the excitement, many visitors lived with untreated or undiagnosed conditions, including high blood pressure, failing eyesight, persistent dental problems, and non-communicable diseases, largely due to lack of access, cost, and time.
It was against this background that the club brought health services closer to the people, removing barriers of cost, distance, and time.
The camp served as a one-stop health hub, offering a wide range of services delivered by a dedicated team of doctors, specialists, nurses, and counsellors from leading health institutions. Services offered included general consultation, vitals check, first aid, free drugs, RBS (blood sugar) screening, EVD screening, sickle cell screening, hepatitis B testing, vaccination and fatty liver screening, immunization, STI screening, HIV testing & counselling, urology, ENT, eye screening with free spectacles, dental check-up and procedures, cervical & breast cancer screening, and blood donation.
Wellness and empowerment services also included family planning, mental health screening, health education, referral services for specialized care, and fitness demonstrations.
Speaking at the close of the camp, the Projects Director of the Rotary Club of Uptown Kampala, Kemirembe Maria Goretti Charlotte, said:
“This initiative was our way of giving back. As Rotarians, Service Above Self is our calling. We believe good health is the foundation of a productive nation. We are humbled that over 1000 Ugandans were able to access quality care through this camp.”
The Rotary Club of Uptown Kampala extended its sincere gratitude to the leadership of UMA for the impactful partnership and to all medical partners, volunteers, and sponsors who made it possible to keep all services completely free.
