Beyond Vision plans to expand production, accelerate AI development and strengthen its international presence in the defence and critical infrastructure sectors.
Beyond Vision, a manufacturer of drones, announced the completion of an investment round of over €28 million, co-led by Índico Capital Partners and Lince Capital, with a follow-on investment from ActiveCap.
This new funding is intended to “scale industrial production capacity, accelerate technological development in AI and swarm capacity, and expand the company’s international presence in the defence and critical infrastructure sectors.”
Expanding production capacity
In a press release, CEO Dário Pedro outlined how the funding will support the company’s production capacity and technological development.
“Beyond Vision will strengthen its operational infrastructure and scale its industrial production capacity to meet the growing global demand for autonomous systems. In parallel, the company will accelerate investment in Research and Development (R&D), deepening the integration of advanced Artificial Intelligence algorithms and new functionalities in its cloud management platform.”
Pedro added that the investment would also support the company’s expansion into international markets.
“Finally, the funds will allow it to consolidate its commercial expansion into new international markets, strengthening its presence in the defence, security, and critical infrastructure monitoring sector.”
Portuguese drone technology
Founded in 2013 and led by CEO Dário Pedro and Chairman Luís Miguel Campos, Beyond Vision was founded with the goal of developing innovative software solutions, and the company is an officially registered NATO supplier.
Recognising the potential of the autonomous unmanned vehicle sector, Beyond Vision began developing revolutionary drones based on artificial intelligence algorithms and cloud-based management platforms to meet the growing demand for these new solutions.
The company has a team of 150 employees and has expanded its list of military and civilian clients in several countries.
Investment in autonomous systems
According to Stephan de Moraes, Managing General Partner of Índico Capital Partners, sectors such as defence, infrastructure management, and security are strategic priorities for many countries. He highlighted Beyond Vision’s combination of technology and competitive pricing.
“Beyond Vision has redefined this market by combining high-precision hardware with advanced artificial intelligence algorithms at a very competitive cost.”
Moraes explained that the investment would help the company increase production and strengthen its position internationally.
“This investment will give Beyond Vision the financial robustness needed to scale production and compete globally in important segments of autonomous unmanned vehicles.”
According to the company, this investment aims to prepare Beyond Vision for global scalability at a time when demand for civilian and defence solutions is growing exponentially.
European defence investment
Tomás Lavin Peixe, Head of Venture Capital at Lince Capital, said that the firm’s participation reflects its belief in the potential of a sector undergoing significant transformation. He pointed to the opportunities emerging from increased European defence investment.
“The current geopolitical context and the strengthening of European investment in defence are creating new opportunities for technology companies capable of competing internationally.”
Peixe added that Beyond Vision is well-positioned to benefit from these developments and contribute to Portugal’s technology sector.
“We believe that Beyond Vision, due to its technological capacity, experience, and ambition, is well-positioned to seize this moment and contribute to the development of a stronger national ecosystem in high-value-added technologies.”
