PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested a 29-year-old suspect who allegedly bashed a man over the head with a helmet in a brawl in Inanam, Sabah, on Saturday night.
Kota Kinabalu police chief Shahrudin Mat Husain said the mother of the 23-year-old victim lodged a police report yesterday evening, leading to the suspect's arrest in Tuaran around 12.45am today.
"We are tracking down the other suspects involved in the incident," he said in a statement.
Shahrudin said the case is being probed under Sections 324 and 148 of the Penal Code for causing hurt with a dangerous weapon and rioting with a weapon.
A viral video of the incident showed the victim, believed to be a motorcyclist, being beaten and kicked by a group of men. One of them could be seen bashing the victim with the helmet before another man kicked the victim in the head.
