The 49ers are getting a receiver back on the field.
San Francisco announced on Thursday that the club has opened receiver Christian Kirk’s 21-day practice window as he returns from injured reserve.
Kirk has been sidelined since suffering a calf injury during training camp.
Last season, Kirk caught 28 passes for 239 yards with a touchdown in 13 games for the Texans. He could provide some important depth with Deebo Samuel currently dealing with a hamstring injury.
A Cardinals second-round pick in 2018, Kirk has registered 432 receptions for 5,415 yards with 30 touchdowns in his career.
Additionally, the 49ers have signed defensive lineman Ogbo Okoronkwo to the 53-man roster from the team’s practice squad. He’s registered a sack and three quarterback hits in five games so far this season.
San Francisco has signed linebacker Eugene Asante to the practice squad.
