Florida volleyball standout Alec Rothe was named SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week after standout performances on both sides of the net at No. 19 Texas A&M and No. 12 Texas, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.
Last weekend, Rothe tied a conference high with 14 blocks, including six at Texas A&M and eight at Texas. The junior also matched a career high with two solo blocks against the Aggies, adding a career-best six digs alongside nine kills while hitting .438.
Against the Longhorns, Rothe recorded a career-high 17 kills while hitting .419, along with her eight blocks. She averaged 1.56 blocks per set, 3.78 points per set and hit .428 over the weekend, all of which led Florida.
With Rothe's honor, the Gators have claimed three SEC Defensive Player of the Week awards in a season for the first time since 2019, when the team earned six. Logan King was also named SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week earlier this season on Sept. 21 and Oct. 5.
The No. 5 Gators return to action this weekend, welcoming LSU on Friday, Oct. 23, and Ole Miss on Sunday, Oct. 25, for a pair of conference matchups at the O'Connell Center.
