The Bauchi State governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Ibrahim Kashim, has resigned from the party.
Kashim announced his resignation in a statement on Monday, saying the decision took effect from October 16, 2026.
He said his decision followed careful reflection but stressed that it would not affect his commitment to the political struggle for a better Bauchi State.
“My conviction remains that our dear state deserves purposeful leadership, a stronger economy, greater opportunities for our youths and women, improved security, and a future in which every citizen can live with dignity and hope,” he said.
The former governorship candidate assured his supporters that his political journey was far from over, adding that his commitment to the development of the state remained unwavering.
He said he would continue to engage with individuals and groups who shared his vision of a peaceful, prosperous and economically vibrant Bauchi State.
Kashim, however, did not disclose his next political move, but said he would communicate the direction of his political struggle in due course.
“In due course, we shall communicate to you the next phase of our struggle and the direction we intend to take,” he stated.
He urged his supporters to remain calm, steadfast and united, insisting that their mission went beyond membership of a political party.
“Our mission is bigger than any political party; it is about the future of our people and the destiny of our state and country,” he added.
