Mark Zuckerberg and Alexander Wang
Mark Zuckerberg has weighed in on Alexandr Wang’s unfiltered social media presence. The Meta AI head has a habit of actively posting and sharing viral AI-generated content as well as memes, turning him into a ‘trending topic’ on X (formerly Twitter). When asked about Wang’s ‘deranged’ posting habits, the Facebook founder and Meta CEO revealed that he finds the tech entrepreneur’s frequent online posts hilarious rather than problematic.
Zuckerberg defended the unpolished style, arguing that communication works best when leaders prioritise direct authenticity over carefully thought corporate messaging.“I think most of it is great. With communication, I think it’s most important to just be authentic. And when you’re trying to be authentic, some of the things don’t come out the way you want. And that is better to make the trade in that direction than it is to be overly scripted and not be authentic,” Zuckerberg said.
Mark Zuckerberg believes in ‘authenticity over corporate polish’
Zuckerberg dismissed concerns over erratic or unconventional online commentary from tech founders, explaining that missteps are simply the natural byproduct of speaking one's mind in real time: “But I mean, most of it, I just feel is hilarious,” he added.Zuckerberg also offered insight into his own social media consumption habits, noting that while he does not consider himself a heavy consumer of X, he has actively returned to sharing updates on the platform.
The motivation behind his presence on the competing network comes down to engaging with the broader AI and technical research community.“Every time I load X, I have like 4 Alex posts and it just cracks me up,” Zuckerberg said.
Alexandr Wang praises Mark Zuckerberg
In the same conversation, when the Meta AI head was asked about the qualities of Mark Zuckerberg, he offered glowing praise for Zuckerberg, highlighting his willingness to make massive, rapid pivots based on core convictions.Wang noted that while he does not have an extensive set of comparisons but “one of the very cool things about working with Mark over the past year has just been watching the true degree of his boldness. Once he internalises certain beliefs, like the speed and magnitude of willing to change prior actions and pivot towards the worldview that is consistent with those beliefs, I think these are pretty unusual traits, generally speaking, even among this base of founders.
Very Bayesian.”
