The North Central zonal youth coordinator of the City Boy Movement (CBM), Hon. Suleiman Abubakar Magaji, has commended Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, and the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, for working together towards the development of the state.
Speaking at the flag-off and groundbreaking ceremony for the Lambata–Bida–Mokwa–Makera–Kontagora Federal Highway in Bida, Magaji described cooperation between stakeholders from federal and state as important to sustaining attention on the infrastructure and economic development needs of states.
He welcomed the federal government’s ₦1.5 trillion highway project, which covers a 376-kilometre corridor scheduled for reconstruction and dualisation, with reinforced concrete.
“What a better duo for Niger state. Governor Bago and the Honourable Minister, Mohammed Idris, are important voices in the ongoing conversation about the development and future of our state. We need sustained collaboration, commitment and attention to initiatives that can improve the lives of our people,” Magaji said.
He noted that the highway could strengthen transportation links between communities, improve access to markets and facilitate the movement of agricultural produce, particularly in a state like Niger with considerable agricultural potential and extensive commercial connections.
According to him, strategic infrastructure investment should go hand in hand with sustained attention to agriculture, education, youth opportunities and the economic needs of communities across Niger state.
Magaji also acknowledged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the project, describing cooperation between federal and state authorities as essential to ensuring that major projects deliver lasting public benefits.
“As stakeholders, our responsibility is to encourage constructive engagement, recognise meaningful development initiatives and continue advocating for projects that directly improve the welfare of our people,” he added.
He urged the relevant authorities and project managers to maintain construction quality, ensure effective supervision and deliver the highway within the approved project framework, noting that its benefits would ultimately depend on successful execution.
