A Cape Town townhouse with a price tag that stopped scrollers in their tracks has sparked a heated debate about just how expensive property in the Mother City has become. TikTok account @pashapropertyglobal posted a video tour on 9 October 2026 of a semi-detached Victorian-style duplex in Three Anchor Bay, listed by Lance Real Estate for R10,500,000.

What the R10.5 million gets you

The property is fully furnished, has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, and sits one block from Main Road, within easy walking distance of the Sea Point Promenade and DHL Stadium. Inside, the home has high ceilings, original wooden flooring, a wood-burning fireplace in the living room and a modern kitchen finished in navy blue cabinetry. A dedicated study, a Jack-and-Jill bathroom, a storeroom and an elevated wooden deck round out the features.

The front courtyard offers secure off-street parking behind an automated gate, and a back courtyard includes a braai and fire pit area. The home currently runs as a top-rated Airbnb, sitting at 4.89 stars, and approved plans exist to convert the study into a fourth bedroom with an en-suite.

Mzansi reacts to the Cape Town price tag

The comment section did not hold back, with many viewers drawing sharp comparisons to what the same money would buy elsewhere in South Africa.

@napsxj wrote:

"Cape Town property market is ridiculously overpriced. A similar house sells for R2.5 million max in Gauteng. R10 million is a proper modern and fancy house."

@Kevin Kayembe said:

"Same house, different location, could easily go for about R900k to R1.5 million."

@Dustine pointed out:

"No garden, no pool, no view and the third bedroom is accessed via the second bedroom via the bathroom on rainy days! This is insanity 🤯."

@Marione&Marley added:

"I'm sorry, I don't mean to be a hater, but R10mil for those door handles? It's beautiful, don't get me wrong, but I can't get over the door handles."

@Kali asked:

"Jesus! This is wild, hey. R10 million?"

@Nacrompenza summed up the mood with:

"I think we South Africans are not the target market 🌍."
