U.S. Vice President JD Vance is expected to visit Greece in mid-February to attend the first international Breitbart Summit, a conference organized by the American news outlet Breitbart News Network and scheduled to take place in Athens.
The summit will be held at the Hotel Grande Bretagne under the theme of “Western Alliances and Strategic Convergence,” focusing on the future of transatlantic relations and cooperation among Western allies in a changing international environment.
The event comes as Greece and the United States have agreed to intensify bilateral contacts and coordinate their responses to shared threats amid international instability.
The theme of Western alliances has also featured in recent discussions in Greece. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio addressed the challenges facing the Western world and the choices confronting its allies during a speech at the Pnyx, the historic hill in Athens associated with the assembly of ancient Athenian citizens.

U.S. officials and business leaders expected
In addition to Vance, the summit is expected to bring a large delegation of American officials to Athens, including senators, members of the House of Representatives, White House advisers and leading U.S. business figures.
The organizers aim to establish the summit as a meeting point for political and business leaders to discuss shared strategic priorities between the United States and Europe.
Breitbart describes itself as a conservative news outlet with a substantial audience among supporters of President Donald Trump and access to senior members of his administration. The outlet has conducted exclusive interviews with Trump and members of his Cabinet, providing a platform for the administration’s priorities and debate within the American right.
U.S. officials who regularly participate in Breitbart events include Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, Energy Secretary Chris Wright, Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy. Vance has also taken part in the outlet’s events.
Matthew Boyle behind the initiative
Matthew Boyle, Breitbart’s Washington bureau chief, is the driving force behind the summit. He has a longstanding interest in Greek affairs and has conducted exclusive interviews with Greek politicians, including Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
According to the announcement, Boyle’s interviews with Trump, foreign leaders and representatives of international organizations have addressed issues on Washington’s political and economic agenda and have frequently attracted public comment from the U.S. president.
Vance has described Boyle as “the journalist with the best sources in Washington,” according to the announcement.
Boyle has also criticized Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s policies and the stance of U.S. Ambassador to Turkey Tom Barrack, while highlighting the positions of Greece and Cyprus in U.S. decision-making circles.
Focus on transatlantic cooperation
The organizers say the summit aims to open a substantive discussion on the cohesion of Western alliances and the prospects for closer strategic coordination between Europe and the United States.
By choosing Athens as the starting point for its first international summit, Breitbart also aims to highlight Greece’s role in transatlantic cooperation.
