The video, filmed inside what appears to be a church office adorned with national flags and official furniture, shows Kanyari and the woman laughing and reminiscing in a warm, nostalgic exchange.
Pastor Kanyari reunites with first girlfriend
Speaking in a lively mix of Sheng and Swahili, Kanyari recalled meeting the woman when the two were still in school, describing her as someone who was out of his league at the time.
"Sikuwa na mpenda sana. Ni kuwa na muogopa, hivyo somehow, uko high class," he said, admitting that her perceived status left him too nervous to make a serious move.
He also revealed a particularly sweet detail about their connection: he was the one who bought her her first phone.
As their conversation continued, Kanyari recalled how he got to know her through her brother, who was his close friend.
Tragically, the brother later died during election-related violence, a loss Kanyari said he had warned him about beforehand.
Despite the bittersweet memories, the reunion itself was anything but sombre. Kanyari noted that the woman had visited him at his church, and he had been so eager to see her that he overrode his own protocol to make time for the meeting.
He described telling his secretary that he simply had to go, regardless of his schedule.

Did Kanyari hope to reunite with ex-wife
Kanyari is no stranger to public attention around his personal life. He was previously married to the late Kikuyu gospel singer Betty Bayo, who passed away on 10 November 2025.
The reunion video offers a rare, lighter glimpse into the pastor's past, one that clearly resonated with his followers.
He once shared that he hoped to reunite with his ex-wife Bayo and hoped that her relationship with Tash would end, so they can get their family back together.
