Ahead of the 2027 general elections, a media bloc within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has launched a national platform to drive the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The group, known as the APC-National Stakeholders Media Support Group (APC-NSMSG), was officially unveiled today with its secretariat in Abuja.
According to the Convener and Secretary of the Group, Dr Oladimeji Adam, the APC-NSMSG comprises a formidable array of seasoned media professionals, veteran journalists, strategic communicators and digital media influencers carefully drawn from across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, united by a common commitment to the success of the APC and the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Oladimeji disclosed that members of the group include seasoned media practitioners, experienced Press Secretaries, serving and former media aides to governors, online newspaper publishers, broadcasters and over 500 grassroots social media influencers loyal to the APC.
Speaking on the objectives of the group, Adam said the time has come for the APC to take control of its own narrative.
“For too long, we have allowed the opposition to dominate the social media space with fake news, propaganda and deliberate misinformation against President Tinubu and our great party. The APC-NSMSG is here to put an end to that,” Oladimeji said.
“The group is built on three pillars: to PROTECT the President from fake news, to PROJECT his laudable achievements under the Renewed Hope Agenda, and to PENETRATE every ward, every polling unit with the true message of what this administration is doing and has achieved.”
Dr Oladimeji explained that the group will not engage in insults or abuse, but will counter every lie with verifiable facts and figures.
“We will be running a fact-based media operation. When they lie about fuel subsidy, we will show facts. When they lie about the economy, we will show data. When they lie about appointments, we will show the list. Nigerians deserve the truth,” he stated.
He further revealed that the group has already developed a short-term action plan that includes the establishment of a central command centre for daily dissemination of talking points, a rapid response team to counter fake news within one hour, and a grassroots network to ensure the party’s message reaches local radio stations and community newspapers across the 36-state campaign structure including the FCT.
He added that the timely media support group has formally applied for recognition and strategic partnership with the Tinubu Support Group (TSG) and other major support groups of the President, in order to ensure message discipline and avoid duplication of efforts.
“We are not a rival to any group. We are a support system to all support groups. Our job is to harmonize and amplify. With President Tinubu, Nigeria is on the path of recovery after years of decay. Our job is to make Nigerians see it, feel it and believe in it ahead of 2027,” Dr Oladimeji concluded.
He called on all APC media practitioners across the country to cooperate with the group in their respective states as the journey to victory in 2027 has begun.
