Singapore and China discussed ways to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation, business ties, and regional connectivity ahead of Singapore's ASEAN chairmanship next year.
The Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) engaged in bilateral economic talks at the 8th Investment Promotion Committee meeting, held virtually on 13 October.
Deputy Prime Minister and Trade Minister Gan Kim Yong and PRC Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao welcomed both countries’ continued collaboration on mutual interests, including services, digital economy, green development, innovation, and connectivity.
The ministers reviewed the progress of key bilateral cooperation projects such as the Suzhou Industrial Park, the Chongqing Connectivity Initiative, and the Guangzhou Knowledge City.
The parties also exchanged views on the international economic outlook.
“As the global economy undergoes profound changes, it is even more important for Singapore and China to remain open and connected, and to work together to create new opportunities for our businesses and peoples,” Gan said.
“Beyond commercial collaboration, we can also deepen policy exchanges and cooperation in emerging areas of mutual interest to support the next phase of our bilateral partnership,” he added.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW
Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.
Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.
We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.
If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
