Find out why Cyan Boujee is taking a break from social media

• Cyan Boujee took to Instagram to reflect on her recent online behaviour, admitting she was deeply disappointed in herself
• The influencer announced she is stepping away from social media to focus on personal growth
• Her post came after a whirlwind week of public clashes with singer MaWhoo and celebrity fashion designer Sihle the Designer

Cyan Boujee has publicly acknowledged her recent online behaviour and announced she needs time away from the spotlight. The influencer, whose real name is Honour Zuma, posted a candid message to her Instagram page on 20 October 2026, expressing regret over how she had conducted herself in the days prior.

"I've worked incredibly hard, on myself as a person, and I'm disappointed that I allowed one situation to bring out a version of myself I've been trying to outgrow," she wrote.

Without naming names or spelling out exactly what triggered the reflection, Cyan made it clear that she felt she had gone backwards in her personal development journey. She confirmed she would be logging off for the foreseeable future.

"I'm choosing to step away from social media for a little while to reflect, grow and focus on the things that truly matter to me," she said, adding: "This chapter of my life is incredibly important to me."

The YouTuber stressed that protecting her peace and becoming the woman she has been striving to be were her top priorities right now.

While Cyan is no stranger to taking time off digital platforms, this move marks a notable shift in how she approaches her online presence. In the past, the influencer has quietly stepped back or gone inactive without prior warning, leaving fans to speculate about her absence.

However, this is the first time Cyan has formally announced a social media hiatus directly off the back of intense online drama, choosing to own her reaction, address her followers, and set clear boundaries before logging off.

What led to Cyan Boujee's online hiatus?

While Cyan kept her statement vague, the context was not hard to miss. In the days leading up to her post, she had been caught up in a very public spat with singer MaWhoo, with the two allegedly linked to the same man romantically. That back-and-forth, though short-lived, played out publicly online.

Before that clash, Cyan had also found herself at odds with celebrity fashion designer Sihle the Designer. The drama originated when fellow YouTuber Big Nandz called out Sihle for allegedly failing to deliver a paid-for outfit over several months.

Cyan chimed in, saying she had experienced something similar with the designer. Sihle responded by releasing what he claimed was evidence relating to their dealings, and crucially, he also confirmed that Cyan had been pregnant, something the influencer had previously tried to shut down as rumour.

The back-to-back controversies appear to have prompted Cyan's moment of self-assessment, with the 20 October post serving as her final word before going quiet online.
