BELLA BELEN drives the Capital1 bus anew as it seeks another victory against a taller and dangerous ZUS Coffee on Tuesday in the PVL All-Filipino Conference Siklab Series at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The explosive, do-it-all Ms. Belen will come into their 1 p.m. showdown with the Thunderbelles riding the crest of their epic five-set victory over the Akari Chargers last Thursday in Antipolo where she dropped a career 35-point effort.
Also scheduled on Tuesday is the duel between PLDT (0-1) and Akari (0-2) at 6 p.m.
Aside from attacking, Ms. Belen also presided over the Solar Spikers’ floor defense with 20 digs and 19 excellent receptions that helped propel them to a 1-1 record and back in the playoff race.
The triple-double performance put the 2026 Rookie of the Year in the driver’s seat in the race for MVP honors.
She said she is fueled by her thirst for glory.
“Last conference, hindi kami nakapasok, yun ang lagi lagi kong pinaghuhugutan,” said Ms. Belen, who has snared five championships in high school and three more in college but has yet to win one in this league.
But with the way she’s playing, there’s a chance she could quench that championship thirst. — Joey Villar
