Apple got slammed with pre-orders for the iPhone Duo – the demand outstripped supply so badly that shipping dates around the world were quickly pushed back to January 22. But maybe the wait won’t be so bad as multiple users are reporting that their shipping dates have been pulled forward.
If you have pre-ordered the iPhone Duo, have a look at the estimated shipping date – you may be in for a pleasant surprise.
Ray Wong of Gizmodo says that many X users from Japan are seeing the initial November/December shipping estimates be pulled forward all the way to October 23 – that’s the official launch date for the Duo.
It’s not just Japan, though – in a thread on r/apple, multiple users are also reporting faster shipping times than initially planned. One user says their order was pulled forward by two weeks, going from December 2-9 to November 17-24. A couple of other users saw the same thing. Some jumps are even bigger – from January 25 to November 24 for one user and from January 25 to November 16-23 for another user.
Not everyone is so lucky, however. For some, the shipping date hasn’t moved from the initial estimate. And there are worse cases too – one user says that their November 30 estimate was pushed back to December 7.
So, have a look at apple.com or wherever you pre-ordered your Duo from. For what it’s worth, Apple’s online store still shows a shipping date of January 22. We also had a peek at some US carriers – AT&T is showing December 3, Verizon says December 4, while T-Mobile estimates December 29-January 6.
The iPhone Duo ships only with a USB C-to-C cable
Again, this isn’t specific to Japan, the US or just one region. It’s not specific to just one carrier/retailer either. Maybe Apple found a way to boost production or maybe the initial inrush of orders wasn’t as big as it first appeared. Either way, you may get to hold Apple’s first foldable sooner than you expected.
