Bangladeshi model Sajria Tabassum Proma has been named Miss International Bangladesh 2026 and will represent the country at the 64th edition of the Miss International Beauty Pageant in Tokyo, Japan.
Proma will join more than 70 delegates from around the world for the pageant's activities, beginning on 9 November. The grand finale is scheduled for 25 November at Kanadevia Hall, formerly known as Tokyo Dome City Hall.
Proma has established herself in Bangladesh's fashion industry, walking the runway at major fashion shows and appearing in campaigns for leading local brands. She will now represent the country on an international platform that places emphasis on beauty, cultural exchange and social advocacy.
Her campaign centres on Blue Guard BD, an initiative focused on protecting Bangladesh's water resources and environment while empowering communities.
The project aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including good health and wellbeing, quality education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, sustainable communities, responsible consumption and production, and the protection of marine life.
Proma has also collaborated with Footsteps Bangladesh, bringing together grassroots initiatives and environmental advocacy.
The Miss International Bangladesh licence has been held by fashion industry figure Azra Mahmood since 2024. With more than 24 years of experience across modelling, styling, television, acting and grooming, Mahmood has worked to develop talent in Bangladesh's fashion and pageantry sectors.
She founded Azra Mahmood Talent Camp (AMTC) in 2019. The platform trains aspiring models, presenters and pageant contestants in runway techniques, grooming, communication and confidence to prepare them for national and international opportunities.
"Proma represents the new face of Bangladesh: confident, purposeful and world-ready," Mahmood said in a statement.
She also expressed pride in Proma's selection and anticipation for her representation of Bangladesh at the Tokyo pageant.
Proma's participation will bring her modelling career and environmental advocacy to an international audience as she competes for the Miss International 2026 crown.
