Kapolei knocked off Mililani and will get the No. 1 seed when the Open Division playoffs kick off. Kahuku also had a big win over Campbell in a top-five showdown.
Below are the top 25 Hawaii high school football teams, according to the Massey Ratings, as of Oct. 12.
1. Mililani (8-1)
The Trojans lost their first game of the year to Kapolei 25-7. It was their third 1 vs. 2 matchup in the last four weeks, and this time, they weren’t able to pull it out. Mililani will have a couple of weeks to rest and recover before their playoff run begins.
2. Kapolei (7-1)
The Hurricanes beat Mililani in convincing fashion 25-7, and have to be considered, at worst, a co-favorite for a State Championship. Kapolei has a lone loss to Campbell back in early September but is peaking at the right time.
3. Kahuku (5-4)
The Red Raiders beat Campbell 24-21 to leapfrog over the Sabers back to the No. 3 spot in the state rankings.
4. James Campbell (6-3)
The Sabers lost their regular season finale to Kahuku 24-21.
5. Kamehameha (4-4)
The Warriors had a dominant win over Punahou 40-14 in their regular season finale to even their record at 4-4.
6. Waipahu (8-1)
