After opening wide receiver AJ Brown’s 21-day window to return from injured reserve on Wednesday, Brown is officially questionable for the New England Patriots’ game against the New York Jets this Sunday.

Brown had a solid first half in New England’s season opener against the Seattle Seahawks, catching three passes for 26 yards. However, after suffering an ankle injury early in the second half, Brown was forced to leave the game and was placed on IR.
In the second half against Seattle and in their next two games against the Pittsburgh Steelers and Jacksonville Jaguars, New England’s offense struggled, especially in the passing game. Quarterback Drake Maye only threw for 199 yards against the Steelers, and the Patriots were blown out by the Jaguars. New England also had three turnovers in that game.
The Patriots have gotten into a groove over the past two weeks, with an upset win over the Buffalo Bills, and Maye threw three touchdown passes in that game. In Week 4, they blew out the Las Vegas Raiders, with Maye throwing for 374 passing yards and four passing touchdowns.
Especially with New England’s offense finding some momentum and their next game on Thursday, it would not be surprising if the Patriots were cautious with Brown and did not have him return until Week 7 against the Chicago Bears.
