Robert Sugden’s (Ryan Hawley) whole world came tumbling down in Emmerdale when the money he’d won hours earlier in poker game was stolen from right under his nose.
The farmer has been having cashflow issues as of late, especially after purchasing struggling business The Hide from Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham), who sabotaged his plans to open imminently due to him having lowballed her with his offer.
In a bid to raise the funds needed, he organised a poker night at his new establishment, inviting Joe Tate (Ned Porteous), Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) and Claudette Anderson (Flo Wilson) to play.
Once Claudette left with her winnings and Jay cashed out, Joe and Robert went head-to-head, with Robert putting the Hide on the table while Joe offered up £100k.
Robert came out victorious, much to Joe’s shock, and he partied the night away at The Woolpack, unaware that a punter stole the cash after Kev (Chris Coghill) stated aloud the amount his ex won aloud in the pub for all to hear.
The discovery left Robert horrified, realising that he’s literally got nothing left. But who stole the cash?
What happens next in Emmerdale? Spoilers for Monday, October 19 episode
The next episode deals with the fallout of tonight’s as Robert and Aaron (Danny Miller) desperately try to work out who stole the money.
With poker players Joe and Jai in attendance on the evening in question, could either of them be the culprits? Or is Kev the man they’re looking for?
Eagle-eyed viewers may have spotted Kev making off with his jacket all rolled up when time was called by Woolpack landlady Charity (Emma Atkins), but is he the thief?
Aaron and Sarah (Katie Hill) head off to interrogate the potential suspects, but will they get the answers they need?
Elsewhere, Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) takes Cain (Jeff Hordley) on a fishing trip ahead of his radiotherapy.
Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper), meanwhile, receives a visit from her Victim Liaison Officer, who informs her that Tom (James Chase) will be released from prison.
Reeling, Belle is assured that Tom will be subject to strict licence conditions upon his release but Kammy (Shebz Miah) is pained to see the change in her demeanour.
Later, Charles (Kevin Mathurin) overhears Belle speaking to Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) about the situation and he can’t help but reveal that Tom has been speaking to him in his role as a prison chaplain – and that he has accepted culpability for what he did and is even seeking Belle’s forgiveness.
Unsure of what to do, Belle ultimately decides to visit Tom.
Emmerdale airs these scenes Monday, October 19 at 8pm on ITV1 or stream from 7am on ITVX or YouTube.
