The estate brings together residential, commercial, and recreational facilities within a single complex. Amenities already in place include 104 shops, a kindergarten, playgrounds, green open spaces, a clubhouse, and a swimming pool.
Additional facilities still to be developed include a junior school, two basketball courts, and a football pitch.
Jua Kali Artisans and Local Artists Benefit
Ruto announced that KSh 264 million had been channelled to 84 Jua Kali associations in Eldoret through construction-linked opportunities tied to the project.
Across the wider North Rift region, he put the value of opportunities extended to Jua Kali artisans at KSh 3.8 billion, while the national figure stood at KSh 61 billion.
The president also noted that local artists, including painters, were engaged to decorate the housing blocks, creating work within Eldoret's creative sector.
Eldoret's Growing Housing Demand
The Pioneer project arrives at a time when Eldoret is experiencing heightened demand for housing following its elevation to city status in August 2024.
Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo had previously acknowledged that the city's rapid growth was placing increasing pressure on the availability of decent housing.
The development forms part of the government's broader Affordable Housing Programme, which aims to widen access to home ownership while simultaneously generating employment through construction activity and related industries.
