UK Lincoln College has announced it signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Mohammed VI Academy of Civil Aviation to strengthen their cooperation in the fields of education and training, applied research, innovation and skills development, with particular emphasis on aeronautics, civil aviation, engineering and digital technologies.
Lincoln College Managing Director, James Foster, says: “This agreement is part of the British Council’s Going Global Partnership TVET programme and means we can further our long-term collaborations in aviation training, student and staff mobility, professional development, research, innovation and knowledge exchange.
“We have a proven record in international education and to have struck up such a hugely varied partnership with an organisation as ambitious as ours is fantastic. This also strengthens our status as one of the UK’s Defence Technical Excellence Colleges (DTEC), something we are immensely proud of.”
Penny Taylor, Head of Newark Campuses, attended the signing of the MoU with Curriculum Director at the Air and Space Institute (ASI), Jason Pimborough, said: “To be able to visit Casablanca and sign this significant agreement is truly special. This builds on our already successful partnership with the Institut des Métiers de l’Aéronautique (IMA), who we have already collaborated with.
“What is really exciting about this MoU is that the partnership also aims to encourage greater participation of women in aviation and aerospace, helping to build a more diverse and inclusive workforce for the future.”
During the visit, partners toured the Academy’s impressive facilities, including its air traffic control simulators and specialised aviation training infrastructure, highlighting Morocco’s growing ambitions in this strategic sector. Joining them was former Lincoln College and ASI learner Elle Barnaby, who studied an aeronautical engineering course and now works as an Apprentice Software Engineer and represents the East Midlands as a Regional Ambassador for Apprenticeships.
Country Director, Morocco at The British Council, Alexandra Balafrej-Dhorne, said: “At the British Council, we believe international partnerships are a powerful catalyst for skills development.
“By connecting UK and Moroccan institutions, we help strengthen links between education and industry, support innovation, and equip young people with the skills needed to thrive in high-growth sectors.”
