Indie games have a separate fanbase and a special space in the gaming world. They may lack a huge budget or major promotional strategies, but they bring fresh ideas and stories to players that often the big studios hesitate to work on. While some indie games offer new ways to play a game, others tell stories that grab attention from the first scene. Even the world design of these games often looks unique

For hardcore indie fans, this showcase is the best chance to find games that may not get much attention. Indie titles generally cover a huge range. While some bring a strong story, others may offer horror, action, or a strange new idea. Even a short trailer can be enough to make a game worth following.
Reports highlight that the showcase will feature around 18 to 20 games. The exact count can’t be determined before the event begins. Additionally, no specific names were mentioned, even on IGN’s site, which leaves a wider space for speculation.
Here, players should note that every game that will be shown at the event won’t have a release date. Some trailers will come with a launch date, while others will come with a ‘coming soon’ or ‘releasing in 2027’ tag.

ID@Xbox Showcase 2026: Games to Watch on October 20
One game that is announced to be showcased at the event is The Wolf Among Us Remastered. The original game follows Bigby Wolf, the sheriff of a town where fairy tale characters live among humans. It mixes crime, mystery, and well-known storybook figures in a dark setting.
The remastered version will provide players with a chance to experience the game that they might have missed years ago. What will make the most difference is the modernized visuals and the story updates to bring the game into the modern era. The showcase will feature the game, but the details are still under wraps.
Another name that makes the stream exciting is Critical Reflex. This independent publisher is known for unusual indie games, including Mouthwashing and Buckshot Roulette. Its games often take a different path from big-studio releases, making its spot in the showcase worth watching.
Above everything else, IGN and Xbox have announced they will feature some world premieres at the event, and these are going to be the biggest surprises. These first looks may introduce games that players have not seen before. The show may also share updates on titles that are already in development. This mix of new names and familiar games could make the event useful for a wide range of players.
A good showcase is not just about how many games it presents; it’s more about the number of strong reveals. If a showcase has just one strong reveal, it will be more exciting than a showcase event with a long list of games, where the trailers give almost nothing.
