In a statement published on its official social media pages on Monday, October 19, the KDF said no recruitment exercise is currently underway.
"KDF warns the public against fake recruitment adverts circulating online. No recruitment is ongoing. Official vacancies are announced through mainstream media, the MOD website and official KDF social media platforms. Disregard recruitment information from unofficial sources," the military said.
Fake notices mimic official Kenya gazette
The two notices, described as fake by the Ministry of Defence, were designed to resemble official Kenya Gazette publications.
They purported to open KDF enlistment applications from October 16 to November 27, 2026, advertising positions including General Service Officer cadets, combatants, tradesmen, and ICT specialists.
A review of the documents revealed that applicants were being directed to submit sensitive personal documents, including academic certificates and national identity cards, through an unauthorised online portal.
The notices also listed fake anti-corruption hotline numbers in an apparent attempt to lend the material an air of legitimacy.
What KDF job seekers should know
The KDF reiterated that all genuine recruitment announcements are made exclusively through established mainstream media channels, the official Ministry of Defence website, and verified KDF social media accounts.
Any information sourced outside these platforms should be treated with suspicion and disregarded entirely.
Members of the public who encounter such fraudulent notices are advised not to submit any personal documents or follow links contained within them, as doing so could expose them to identity theft or financial fraud.
