Glenn Close revealed she is walking with a cane because she recently underwent a hip replacement.
“I wanted to just hop on and thank you for all of your love, and to explain why I have a cane,” the “101 Dalmatians” actress said in an Instagram video Tuesday.
“I have a cane because I have had a complete hip replacement,” she added.
Close, 79, said she had the surgery after she “found out that [her] left hip was in really bad shape.”
“My whole thing right now is to keep myself in running order so that I can really leap into whatever challenges come my way,” the three-time Emmy Award winner continued.
Close assured her fans that the use of the cane will be temporary. She also said she’ll be in London for the “Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping” premiere next week and in New York for the second season premiere of “All’s Fair.”
“So, I hope to be fully present there, and maybe not running around going up mountains, but at least my old self,” she said.
“So, love to everyone. Don’t worry. I’m feeling great. I have my wonderful, wonderful family around me, and I look forward to all the adventures coming, so love to everyone,” the “Fatal Attraction” star concluded.
In the caption, Close said her video was “a needed explanation” and she thanked her doctor at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York for her “new hip.”
In the clip, the actress wore a frownie, a facial patch that smooths out wrinkles, on her forehead.
Earlier this month, the Oscar nominee was photographed using a cane while walking the red carpet at the NYC premiere of “La Bola Negra” during 2026 NewFest.
Close is slated to receive an honorary Oscar at the 17th Governors Awards in Hollywood next month.
