Women staged a road blockade with empty pots on the Doddagajanur – Diginarai road near Thalavadi on Tuesday (October 13, 2026) demanding the restoration of drinking water supply to their village.
More than 300 families live in Doddagajanur village under Thalavadi panchayat. Residents said drinking water had not been supplied for the past few months, forcing them to fetch water from nearby farms. With water availability in the farms also declining, they were facing difficulties in meeting their daily needs. Though they had repeatedly brought the issue to the notice of the panchayat administration, no action had been taken, they alleged.
The protest disrupted traffic on the road. Thalavadi police personnel held talks with the protesters and informed them that a vehicle carrying equipment to sink a new borewell would arrive by the evening. Following the assurance, the women withdrew the blockade, which lasted about an hour.
