Jacksonville State football is back on the road, facing New Mexico State to continue Conference USA midweek play.
In their last game, the Gamecocks (5-2) stole another win, sneaking by FIU, 27-24, thanks to a late field goal from Garrison Rippa. Caden Creel threw for 214 yards and ran for another 95 yards, and Deondre Johnson had 4 catches for 93 yards and a touchdown.
The Gamecocks are the only 3-0 team in the conference, while Liberty is 2-0. The Gamecocks are trying to make a third straight Conference USA title game and will look to win it after dropping the 2025 game to Kennesaw State at AmFirst Stadium.
The Gamecocks will return to play Wednesday, Oct. 28, on the road against New Mexico State. That game airs on ESPN2, kicking off at 7 p.m. CT.

Jacksonville State vs. New Mexico State prediction
Max's Pick: Jax State 42, NMSU 17
The Gamecocks have had a knack of close games in CUSA play so far, winning each game by less than 10 points. That could change against one of the bottom teams in the conference, even on the road. Expect Caden Creel to shine again as the Gamecocks cruise to a win to end the midweek stretch.
