- President William Ruto visited Kacheliba, West Pokot County on Wednesday, October 14, drawing large, enthusiastic crowds
- Video of the visit showed residents in traditional and casual attire pressing forward to shake the President's hand
- Security personnel, including Ruto's ADC Brigadier Fabian Lengusuranga, stepped in to manage the surging crowd
President William Ruto drew exuberant crowds during a working tour of Kacheliba in West Pokot County on Wednesday, October 14, with residents surging forward in large numbers to greet him as he moved through the area.
Footage from the visit captured the President, dressed in a bright yellow shirt, jeans and a cap, walking alongside a dense crowd assembled under open skies.
He reached out repeatedly to shake hands as people pressed in from all sides, many with arms outstretched in an effort to touch him.
Women in traditional attire and men in casual wear were among those who cheered and waved as he passed, with some holding yellow items aloft.
Security Detail Steps In
As the crowd intensified, members of the Presidential Es-cort Unit, including officers in red berets and uniformed personnel in camouflage, moved in to keep order around the Head of State.

His Aide-de-Camp, Brigadier Fabian Lengusuranga, was positioned at his side and intervened directly as the numbers swelled, working alongside security officers to manage the surge while Ruto continued greeting the crowd.
The crowd management visible in Kacheliba reflects the heightened awareness around presidential security at public gatherings since that incident.
Kacheliba, situated in the semi-arid north of West Pokot County near the Uganda border, was the site of Ruto's engagement with residents as part of his working tour of the county, as he rallied the residents behind his next year's re-election bid.
The scenes drew attention in part because of scrutiny the president's security has been facing in the recent past.
In May this year, the National Police Service confirmed a security breach during a thanksgiving event the President attended in Ganze, Kilifi County, after which changes were made at the unit's senior leadership.
