American YouTuber Chris Barnes exposes a grim Pattaya attack on CCTV. An old contact invited him outside a bar before another man punched him to the ground. Kicked and robbed of cash, cards, camera and passport, he names two men. No arrests reported.
American YouTuber Chris Barnes, 37, has released dramatic CCTV footage of a brutal late-night attack outside a Pattaya bar. He claims an acquaintance lured him outside, where another foreign man was waiting behind a parked car. The footage shows Barnes being punched to the ground and kicked in the face. His attackers then stole his cash, credit cards, camera equipment and American passport. Barnes has since publicly identified both men and released their social media accounts. However, despite reporting the 18 October assault to Pattaya police and supplying CCTV evidence, no arrests have been announced. The injured YouTuber is now appealing for financial help after losing his belongings.

An American YouTuber has released shocking CCTV footage showing two foreign men beating and robbing him outside a Pattaya bar. The 37-year-old was punched to the ground before another attacker kicked him in the face.
His assailants then took his bag containing cash, credit cards, camera equipment and his American passport. Furthermore, the victim has publicly identified both men and displayed their social media accounts. The attack occurred at 1.11 am on Sunday, 18 October, near Pattaya Second Road, Soi 15.
The American, identified as Chris Barnes, published the footage on Tuesday, 20 October. His video shows the assault from two security cameras, including the moments immediately before the violence.
CCTV shows attacker crouching behind a car before American YouTuber is punched outside Pattaya bar
Notably, one recording appears to show a man crouching behind a parked car before approaching the victim. Another captures Barnes being punched and subsequently kicked while lying on the ground. The YouTuber also displayed photographs of injuries to his face and body.
Barnes says the attack began with an apparently friendly encounter inside the bar. He had visited the establishment to meet someone while carrying a bag containing his recording equipment.
The American produces YouTube videos about Thai women and life in Pattaya. Consequently, he regularly carries camera equipment while producing material for his online channel. However, the encounter that night ended with his belongings stolen and his face injured.
According to Barnes, a man he already knew approached him inside the establishment and started a conversation. The acquaintance greeted him normally, having spoken with him on previous occasions.
Shortly afterwards, the man invited Barnes outside to continue talking. The American agreed and followed him out, unaware of the violence that would follow. Within moments, another man approached and punched him, knocking him to the ground.
American YouTuber identifies two men and claims acquaintance arranged encounter before assaults
The American subsequently identified both men in his video, including their social media accounts. For reporting purposes, the men are referred to as P and A. Barnes says P was the acquaintance who approached him inside the bar and persuaded him to leave.
He further claims that P contacted A to inform him that Barnes was present. However, that claimed communication has not been independently verified.
Crucially, the CCTV footage captures movements outside the establishment before the attack. The first recording shows Barnes leaving the bar alongside P. Shortly afterwards, another man emerges from the premises.
Barnes identifies this individual as A, whom he says he had never previously spoken with. Meanwhile, footage from a second security camera records activity beside a parked vehicle near the bar.
The second recording appears to show A crouching behind the car as Barnes and P approach. The man then emerges from his position and moves towards the American. Seconds later, the footage appears to show him punching Barnes and sending him to the ground.
However, the violence continues after the initial blow. Barnes says P subsequently joined the assault and kicked him in the face while he was down.
Footage shows second attacker kicking American on ground as robbery leaves him without passport and cash
The released recording appears to show a man delivering a kick during the confrontation. In addition, Barnes displays photographs showing visible injuries to his face and other parts of his body.
The American says he had no warning before the attack. He had followed P outside for what he believed was an ordinary conversation. Instead, he found himself being assaulted by a man he says he had never previously spoken with.
Barnes maintains that the acquaintance who invited him outside was directly involved in the violence. He also identifies the second man as the attacker who delivered the initial punch. Separately, the footage shows the second man’s movements around the parked vehicle before the confrontation.
The recordings therefore provide a visible sequence of events supporting important elements of Barnes’ account. Nevertheless, police have not publicly confirmed the men’s identities or their involvement.
The assault was followed by the theft of Barnes’ bag and personal possessions. Inside were cash, credit cards, a DJI Osmo Pocket video camera, Apple AirPods and his American passport. The missing camera was equipment he used to produce videos for his YouTube channel.
Moreover, the stolen passport left him without an important travel document. The loss of his cash and credit cards also created immediate financial difficulties.

However, Barnes revealed another detail concerning the Apple AirPods. He said the man identified as A threw the wireless headphones aside rather than taking them away. The American subsequently used Apple’s tracking technology to establish their location.
Despite this, several other possessions remained missing after the incident. The available reports do not confirm whether police have recovered his passport, camera equipment or credit cards.
The robbery also struck directly at Barnes’ online work. His DJI Osmo Pocket camera was among the possessions taken during the confrontation. Furthermore, he lost access to the cash and credit cards he had been carrying.
Barnes described the resulting financial difficulties in his video and appealed to followers for assistance. In response, he sought financial support through social media while attempting to deal with the loss of his belongings.
The American also used his online platform to press for police action. Rather than relying solely on his description, Barnes released CCTV recordings showing the assault itself. He displayed social media accounts he attributed to both men and publicly accused them of attacking him.
Additionally, the footage includes events immediately before the violence, showing movements around the bar and parked vehicle. The recordings carry a timestamp of 1.11 am on 18 October.
Pattaya police receive CCTV footage as American identifies foreign attackers but no questioning confirmed
The incident occurred opposite Pattaya Second Road, Soi 15, in Nong Prue subdistrict, Bang Lamung district. By Wednesday, 21 October, Thai media were reporting the case and describing the American’s injuries.
Reports identified the victim as a 37-year-old YouTuber who produces videos about Thai women and Pattaya nightlife. Some reports named him Christopher Barne, while his own published account identifies him as Chris Barnes.
The attackers were described as foreign men, although their nationalities have not been independently established. Similarly, the available reports do not confirm whether either man has been questioned by police.
Barnes has identified the men publicly, but investigators have not announced findings confirming those identifications. The claimed communication between the two men before the assault also remains unverified.
Barnes subsequently filed a complaint with Pattaya City Police Station. He says investigators have received the CCTV footage recording the confrontation. The recordings show the American leaving the bar and the movements of the man waiting near the vehicle.
They also capture the assault itself, including the initial punch and subsequent kick. In parallel, Barnes has supplied his account of the conversation that preceded the attack.
Police have yet to announce arrests or recover stolen property despite CCTV evidence of Pattaya assault
The security footage provides investigators with a detailed timeline of the confrontation. It records the men’s movements before Barnes was struck and shows the physical violence that followed.
Furthermore, the American’s published photographs document visible facial injuries after the incident. However, the available reports contain no official medical assessment or confirmation of hospital treatment. Police have also not released findings concerning the full circumstances of the robbery.
As of Wednesday, 21 October, Pattaya police had not announced any arrests in connection with the case. Nor had investigators publicly confirmed the recovery of Barnes’ stolen property.
There was also no official announcement identifying the two men or establishing their nationalities. Meanwhile, the American continued seeking assistance following the loss of his money, passport and recording equipment.

The video, titled I Was Robbed and Beaten in Thailand… Here’s What Happened, remains Barnes’ principal public account. It combines security camera footage, photographs of his injuries and his identification of the two men.
The American maintains that an acquaintance invited him outside before another man launched the attack. He says both men subsequently participated in the violence and robbery.
