The RC Silves 14-member team faced a 110km walk over 7 days.

The first day, Monchique to Marmelete, and the fifth day, Arrifana to Carrapateria, were the most difficult. On day 1, we walked 16 km with a 520-metre climb, and on day five we walked 20 km and climbed 420 metres.
Alan and Pam Winn, both in their late 70s, tested the Day 5 walk and were not looking forward to attempting it again. Judy and Terry Falcao, who tested the Day 1 walk, have by far the longest climb. But the team will achieve its goal by supporting each other.
Alan is our bionic man, who had a heart bypass operation following a heart attack in 2017, followed by a right shoulder joint replacement and a new left hip. Happy to say he has been passed fit to walk. Pam´s injuries come from her early athletic career and charity netball. Severe ankle sprains in both ankles. This has resulted in a weakness which needs care to manage.
Why go through the challenge? “As Rotarians, we aspire to help as many people in our community as we can. Many families in the Algarve have young children with learning and language difficulties who cannot access the essential early intervention services their children need to thrive. RC Silves is stepping in to bridge that gap”
We have set a fundraising target of €6000 to secure these vital therapies. We hope to inspire you to help. Please turn our physical steps into real-world support. Will you sponsor the team? The money we raise for this project will change the lives of children and those helping them.
