SoFi stock: daily structure favors the bearish case
The daily chart for SoFi stock points firmly bearish. Price trades below all three exponential averages, with daily RSI14 at 32.79 and a negative MACD histogram confirming the downside bias.
Exponential averages maintain bearish alignment
The daily averages are bearishly aligned. Price sits below the 20-session EMA at $16.12, followed by the 50-session at $16.81 and the 200-session at $18.32. That complete ordering supports the bearish bias, rather than merely showing price below one average.
Momentum and volatility readings
Daily RSI14 stands at 32.79, below neutral but above the oversold threshold. Meanwhile, the daily MACD line is -0.55, below its signal at -0.5, with a negative histogram of -0.04. These readings support the bearish case without establishing an oversold condition.
Price sits between the daily lower Bollinger band at $14.95 and the mid-band at $16.15. The upper band is $17.34. Daily ATR14 is $0.54, down from $0.57 in the preceding session, indicating a smaller average true range.
Pivot levels frame intraday risk
Notably, price is below the daily pivot at $15.37 but above first support, S1, at $15.05. Daily first resistance, R1, is $15.54. These levels come from the previous completed daily candle and apply to the current session.
Hourly confirmation, with limited short-term counterpoint
The hourly chart reinforces SoFi stock’s bearish structure. Price remains below all hourly exponential averages, with RSI14 at 31.43 and a negative MACD histogram. The 15-minute chart, however, provides only limited counterweight.
Hourly averages and indicators
The hourly averages also have a bearish alignment. Price is below the 20-hour EMA at $15.43, the 50-hour at $15.64, and the 200-hour at $16.60. Hourly RSI14 is 31.43, approaching oversold territory. The MACD line of -0.13 is below its signal of -0.10, with a histogram of -0.03.
Furthermore, price sits below the hourly pivot at $15.20 and above hourly S1 at $15.08; hourly R1 is $15.31. It is also between the hourly lower Bollinger band at $15.03 and mid-band at $15.48. Hourly ATR14 reads $0.14, providing context for the spacing of nearby levels.
15-minute chart offers marginal counterpoint
In contrast, 15-minute RSI14 is 34.11, up from 31.5 in the preceding quarter-hour candle, though it remains below neutral. The 15-minute MACD line and signal are both -0.07, with a zero histogram. This offers less bearish short-term momentum evidence than the higher timeframes, but no positive MACD separation.
It remains below the 20-quarter-hour EMA at $15.27 and the Bollinger mid-band at $15.26. The lower band is $15.16, while 15-minute ATR14 is $0.07. These nearby levels frame short-term timing, not the main directional thesis.
Positive coverage does not resolve the chart weakness
Bullish analyst coverage has emerged for SoFi stock, even as the technical structure remains bearish. CNBC and Investing.com reported a new buy initiation from StoneX, while Seeking Alpha published a Strong Buy rating with a fair value target.
CNBC reported before Tuesday’s open that StoneX initiated coverage with a buy rating. CNBC attributed the view that SoFi is undervalued and has considerable near-term gains potential to StoneX Financial. Investing.com also reported the buy initiation on Monday, October 12, 2026.
Meanwhile, a Seeking Alpha analysis published during Tuesday’s session rated SoFi Strong Buy and cited fair value of $22–$26. Its headline discussed rising yields tightening spreads. The favorable valuation view contrasts with the current bearish technical structure.
Bullish and bearish conditions
SoFi stock faces a clear set of levels that define the bullish and bearish cases for the current session. Clearing overhead resistance would be required for any bullish shift, while a break below nearby support would strengthen the bearish outlook.
What the bullish case requires
A bullish case would require clearing the hourly pivot at $15.20, followed by the daily pivot at $15.37. Clearing the hourly 20-hour EMA at $15.43 and daily R1 at $15.54 would provide further support. A broader bullish case would also need price above the daily 20-session EMA at $16.12 and mid-band at $16.15.
Downside levels at current values
Conversely, a break below 15-minute S1 at $15.16 would undermine the immediate bullish case. Further breaks below hourly S1 at $15.08 and daily S1 at $15.05 would strengthen the bearish case. Below those levels, the hourly lower band at $15.03 and daily lower band at $14.95 define additional downside reference points.
Overall, SoFi stock remains above daily support but below its daily pivot and key averages. Daily ATR14 is $0.54, while the hourly and quarter-hour readings frame shorter-term volatility. Whether price can clear overhead levels remains unresolved, and the session is still open.
