Deputy Senate President, Senator Jibrin Barau, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, and governors of five states are expected at the launch of the Converged Digital Newsroom of the Media Trust Group, which is holding on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at the corporate headquarters of the company in Abuja.
The Deputy Senate President will be the Special Guest of Honour at the event, while the minister will be the Guest Speaker. The Minister is expected to deliver a presentation addressing key issues surrounding media innovation, national development, and responsible journalism.
Also expected to grace the unveiling of the MTG’s technology-driven initiative are governors of Yobe, Borno, Adamawa, Gombe and Jigawa states.
A statement issued by the Media Trust’s management said the states were consciously chosen because of their patronage of the multimedia company.
“The states are the top five customers of the company in the public sector in the 2025 Financial Year”, the statement said.
Equally invited specially to the event are the management teams of Zenith Bank Plc, FirstBank Plc, the Dangote Group, Globacom Limited and Jaiz Bank Plc, which topped the list of the Media Trust Group’s customers in the private sector last year.
Several other high-profile personalities, including chief executive officers of various public and private organisations are expected at the event.
The MTG’s tech-driven initiative brings together editorial operations across Daily Trust, Trust TV, Trust Radio, Aminiya, Digital Trust and other platforms in a more integrated newsroom, enabling journalists to collaborate, share resources and deliver timely, relevant and engaging content to audiences across multiple channels.
It also forms part of the Group’s broader strategy to build a digitally driven, audience-focused and commercially sustainable media organisation, leveraging technology and innovation to strengthen journalism and respond to the changing demands of the media industry.
A leading Nigerian media conglomerate based in Abuja, the Media Trust Group was founded in 1998 following the launch Weekly Trust, which was followed by Daily Trust in January 2001.
In July 2022, it officially rebranded from Media Trust Limited to Media Trust Group to reflect its expansion into a multi-platform media organisation.
The company’s core publications and platforms include Daily Trust, which is its flagship English daily newspaper, Weekend Trust (which covers Saturdays and Sundays), Aminiya, a popular Hausa-language weekly newspaper, as well as Trust TV and Trust Radio, which form its broadcast arm, in addition to the digital arm.
