Liverpool have pulled off an incredible deal, the best in the world now belongs to Andoni Iraola.
Richard Hughes won't get a lot of praise for his time at Anfield. He has left this Liverpool team in a disjointed mess.
Some of his decision making in the transfer market has been extremely questionable to say the least. Especially when he has spent lavishly and probably at times overspent on big name players who are yet to deliver for the Reds.
Obviously, he will only be judged when those players he signed will end their career in a Red shirt. There's also the argument to make that Hughes was building for a long-term future. Rome was not built in a day and he knew the rebuilding process would take time.
But ultimately that is why he wanted to sign the best players.
Liverpool's future building is incredible
You can say what you want about how the likes of Florian Wirtz have performed. But the truth is that right now Liverpool have an extremely young team and it is one of the best young team's on the planet.
Sure, they are not among Europe's elite at the moment. That will take time, and the Reds are still a few signings away from having a complete squad.
But there is no denying the future is exciting. Just take a look at the wings when Victor Munoz is bombing up and down, or when Rio Ngumoha dazzles with his quick feet.
There's also Trey Nyoni, who has been in on another level since finally being trusted to become a regular member of the first-team squad.
These players are the future, and there's another young player at the club who is already the best in the world.
Jeremy Jacquet is one of the best players in the world
Richard Hughes' greatest achievement at Liverpool was probably signing Jeremy Jacquet. The French centre-back has been simply incredible since coming to Anfield this summer.
Jacquet scored on his pre-season debut. Then he has followed that up with incredible performances one week after another.
And he's not just doing it for Liverpool. He's in the same kind of form for France's national team as well.
It proves that Jacquet is one of the best in the world. On current form, you cannot argue that there are any centre-backs better than him.
Jacquet has been sublime. He's undoubtedly the best centre-back on the planet, and it's fair to say the Reds have done it. After Virgil van Dijk, they've now managed to get Jacquet.
