Agartala, October 13, 2026: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Tuesday said the recruitment process for TET-1-qualified candidates would remain on hold until the pending legal proceedings are concluded, responding to questions following Monday’s protest by TET-qualified aspirants outside the Teachers’ Recruitment Board, Tripura (TRBT) office at Shiksha Bhavan in Agartala.
Addressing a press conference, Dr Saha said the matter was sub judice and the government could not comment on it at this stage. He assured that the issue concerning TET-1 candidates would be addressed after the legal proceedings come to an end.
Regarding the recruitment of Graduate Teachers under TET-2, the Chief Minister said TRBT had recommended 766 candidates against 1,020 vacancies on the basis of merit. Appointment letters would be distributed to the selected candidates on Wednesday at the International Fair Ground in Hapania.
He explained that the recruitment process could not cover all the vacancies because a sufficient number of eligible candidates were unavailable in certain reserved categories, including Scheduled Tribes (233 vacancies), ex-servicemen (23) and persons with disabilities (20).
Dr Saha further stated that 1,502 candidates possess TET-2 certificates and the government is considering the next course of action regarding them.
On the recruitment of Secondary Teacher Graduate (STGT) posts, the Chief Minister said the process could not be completed due to a case pending in the Supreme Court concerning reservation for 230 posts.
Meanwhile, highlighting the government’s efforts to address the shortage of Graduate Teachers at the secondary level, Dr Saha said the Education Department had created 700 additional posts. TRBT had subsequently recommended 686 candidates against these vacancies, and they would also receive appointment letters on Wednesday.
The Chief Minister’s remarks came amid renewed demands from TET-qualified aspirants for clarity on the recruitment process, particularly those awaiting appointments under TET-1. The government has maintained that the pending court proceedings are preventing it from proceeding with the recruitment exercise.
