We have frequently covered German manufacturer Cube, whose extensive lineup ranges from rugged off-road builds to accessible urban cruisers, with the company also operating actively in international markets like Spain. The newly released Aruba Hybrid 600 Wave 2027, which has now arrived at German retailers for €2,699, is tailored primarily for city riding, though its Schwalbe Motion Big Apple tires are equally suited for light gravel and unpaved forest paths.
Tipping the scales at roughly 27.9 kg (61,5 lbs), the e-bike comes fully equipped for daily commuting and touring. Mudguards protect against road spray in wet weather, while a full chain guard keeps grease off clothing. A front suspension fork provides 50 mm of travel—a typical spec for urban models—and is complemented by a rear luggage rack and an integrated lighting system.
Power is delivered by a Bosch Performance Line mid-drive motor. While not the highest-torque drive unit on paper, it offers ample performance for everyday traffic. The motor is powered by a generous 600 Wh battery and paired with a compact Bosch Purion 200 display. Riders seeking turn-by-turn navigation will need to mount a secondary display unit.
Shifting is handled by a 5-speed Shimano Nexus internal gear hub. This design enables the fully enclosed chain guard, as unlike derailleur setups—which require lateral movement for the chain and derailleur—a hub gear maintains a fixed, clean chainline.

I have been active as a journalist for over 10 years, most of it in the field of technology. I worked for Tom’s Hardware and ComputerBase, among others, and have been working for Notebookcheck since 2017. My current focus is particularly on mini PCs and single-board computers such as the Raspberry Pi – so in other words, compact systems with a lot of potential. In addition, I have a soft spot for all kinds of wearables, especially smartwatches. My main profession is as a laboratory engineer, which is why neither scientific contexts nor the interpretation of complex measurements are foreign to me.
