Style
A stylish alternative to blue, black and grey

How to style brown jeans is something I've been thinking about a lot recently. Darker denim tones have really come into their own in the past year, and chocolate hues in particular are a fall fashion trend that shows no signs of slowing down in winter. In fact, it seems only right to make it a permanent part of my closet—right in between the blue, black, and grey jeans I already have on rotation anyway.

My only reservation about wearing brown jeans? Looking like I raided my grandfather’s wardrobe…But I overcame that pretty quickly once I found the right street-style-inspired outfit ideas. Read on for all the tips I picked up on how to style brown jeans right now.
1. As part of an all-brown outfit
As I said before, chocolate is a trending color in the fashion sphere, and wearing a monochromatic look is actually one of the easiest ways to do it. (In fact, we have whole separate guide to the all-brown outfit.) Think of it in the same way you would an all-black outfit and it becomes way less daunting.

2. With pink
Miu Miu’s fall 2025 ready-to-wear runway exhibited a few looks that played with browns and pinks, and I'm still influenced by the color combo ever since. It’s a surprising match, but it's the perfect way to brighten up an autumnal look.

3. Accented with burgundy
Because brown is a neutral, there are few colors that clash with it. Going wrong is harder than you’d think, thankfully. There are colors, however, that complement it even more than most: one of which is burgundy. A bag or boots in the equally-rich hue will bring out the warm tone of the pants.

4. With a white T-shirt
It sounds basic (and it is) but it works. When all else fails or you don’t feel like being particularly creative, your best white T-shirt always comes in clutch. Depending on the plans, you can wear your favorite sneakers or slightly elevate things with ankle boots—because styling brown denim is really not so different from how you’d wear other jeans in your collection.

5. Paired with stripes
Since rugby shirts are also trending, why not tick them both off at once? You’ll be surprised how well the coffee or chocolate tone of your brown jeans can pair with stripes in a knitted polo or crewneck sweater.

6. With animal prints
Animal prints are having a moment this fall too, and I’m seeing them often paired with brown jeans. Whether its in a shirt, a coat, heels, or even better, all three, the earth-tone pants allow a leopard, cheetah, or zebra motif to really show its wild side.
