Madhuri Dixit Nene was announced as the host of Kon Honar Crorepati—the Marathi language edition of Kaun Banega Crorepati—sometime this August. For the show’s premiere, the actor eschewed the obvious pantsuit or dress and chose a sari. Dixit Nene wore a lime green sari by Varanasi-based label Shanti Banaras. Never one to be afraid of wearing colours (the actor has worn bright pink and orange, too, in the past) she shows how to work a bright colour into festive and occasion wardrobes.

The satin silk sari features pure zari detailing on all borders in dainty Baroque motifs. The traditional real zari and handloom work on the sari is juxtaposed with a contemporary blouse in matching shade with teardrop cut-outs along the neckline. The traditional zari sari gets a modern traditionalist makeover, thanks to the new-age colour palette. Dixit Nene accessorised her sari look with bangles with green precious stones and gold chandelier earrings with green enamel detailing.
The actor’s bold colour choices was reflected in her choice of makeup, too, done by artist Billy Manik. She wore warm red lips, her eyes were smoky and cheeks were coloured with a pop of pink. Hair artist Sheetal F Khan blow dried her hair in a signature ’90s supermodel bombshell style.
From the Vogue desk:
“A bold citrus colour like lime or chartreuse is perfect for enlivening the mood for festive occasions. When the overall sari is simple, one can amplify the glam by adding heavy jewellery such as chokers and earrings with kaan chains," says Ashwini Arun Kumar Vogue India fashion features editor.
