Cardinals' expected QB plan reveals when Jacoby Brissett might be benched for Carson Beck originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Arizona Cardinals are currently 1-4 in the regular season, with their lone win coming over the Los Angeles Chargers. But while the Cardinals are not winning games, the offense has been able to put up decent points.
Jacoby Brissett, thanks in part to garbage time, is having a solid statistical season for the Cardinals. But the question on everyone's mind is when the Cardinals will bench Brissett and hand the keys over to Carson Beck.
Well, according to ESPN's Dan Graziano, the plan at QB for the Cardinals is not expected to occur until late November, as the Cardinals might decide to give Beck a smoother runway into a starting job instead of facing a difficult part of the schedule.
Cardinals QB plan reveals November timeline for Carson Beck, Jacoby Brissett switch
"I absolutely expect the Cardinals to take a look at Beck at some point this season, though I've been told it might not happen until late November, when their schedule eases up a bit," Graziano writes.
Brissett is entrenched as the team's starting quarterback for now, with matchups against the Los Angeles Rams, Denver Broncos, and Dallas Cowboys coming up for Brissett.
He then gets the Seattle Seahawks, Rams again, and Kansas City Chiefs through Week 11, and November 22. After that, however, things begin to lighten up.
The Washington Commanders in Week 12 could be the first chance the Cardinals get at starting Beck, especially since it's a home game and is followed by another home game against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 13 before a Week 14 bye.
Until those two weeks, the Cardinals might stick with Brissett as the starter, since the schedule is difficult, and putting Beck in there against such a gauntlet would be challenging.
If they were to wait even longer, the end of the year for the Cardinals is a very appealing schedule. They get the New York Jets, New Orleans Saints, Las Vegas Raiders, and San Francisco 49ers to end the season.
Beck might be the starter for all four of those matchups, as it's a fairly tame stretch of opponents, especially on the defensive side of the ball.
But Cardinals fans should not expect Brissett to lose his starting job anytime soon, barring an injury or some truly horrible play. Brissett is the planned starter for some time, with late November, in Week 12, a good time to check back in for a potential QB change.
