Swedish National Police Commissioner Petra Lundh has publicly praised Morocco’s police for the arrest of a fifth Swedish fugitive on Moroccan soil in the past month, underscoring the strength of bilateral security cooperation.
In an Instagram story posted Wednesday, Lundh announced that a Swedish national had been detained in Morocco. The individual had been convicted in Sweden for attempting to recruit people to commit murders.
“This is the fifth wanted Swede arrested in Morocco over the last month,” she wrote, thanking Moroccan police for their “good cooperation” and stressing that “together, we ensure that serious criminals cannot escape justice.”
The latest arrest took place in Agadir and was carried out by the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN).
This is not the first time the Swedish police chief has expressed gratitude toward Rabat. On September 17, she welcomed the arrest in Morocco of another Swedish national sought by Interpol for alleged involvement in several violent crime cases.
Earlier, on September 4, Swedish police announced the extradition from Morocco of two Swedish nationals, aged 28 and 42, suspected of major roles in drug trafficking networks.
