Two weeks into its life, the Bitwise NEAR ETF already holds a sizable stash of tokens. As of October 12, 2026, the fund held 15,775,804.74 NEAR, worth approximately $79.2 million.
The numbers behind the first two weeks
Bitwise launched the fund on September 29, 2026, under the ticker NRR on NYSE Arca. It is the first US spot exchange-traded product to give investors direct exposure to NEAR tokens.
Day one set the tone. The fund pulled in $35.5 million of inflows on its first trading day.
By the end of the first week, cumulative inflows had reached $52.8 million. As NEAR’s price rallied, later reports placed total inflows somewhere in the $50–70+ million range.
The fund had 3,020,000 shares outstanding as of the October 12 snapshot. Every one of those shares is backed by NEAR held directly, not by futures contracts or some synthetic wrapper.
Staking, fees, and who holds the keys
The NEAR ETF carries a 0.75% annual management fee. Coinbase Custody holds the tokens on the fund’s behalf.
Bitwise plans to stake a significant portion of the fund’s NEAR in-house, aiming to earn additional rewards for the fund. At the fund’s inception, network staking rates were projected at around 5% annualized. If that holds, the expected staking yield would comfortably exceed the 0.75% fee.
Why NEAR, and why now
The fund joins Bitwise’s lineup of single-asset exchange-traded products, which already includes Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana.
The timing lines up with a few shifts in NEAR’s own story. The protocol has leaned hard into positioning itself as infrastructure for AI applications and as a hub for cross-chain functionality.
NEAR’s entire token supply has been unlocked, and the network’s inflation rate recently halved to 2.5%. Lower inflation means staking rewards are less diluted by fresh supply, and no pending unlocks removes one common source of sudden selling pressure.
What this means for NEAR and the ETF market
Investors who wanted NEAR exposure but did not want to manage wallets, private keys, or exchange accounts now have a ticker they can buy through a regular brokerage.
Inflows of $35.5 million on launch day and $52.8 million through week one point to genuine demand. With 15,775,804.74 NEAR already locked inside the fund, more inflows would mean more tokens absorbed from the open market.
US spot crypto products have expanded from Bitcoin to Ethereum to Solana, and now to NEAR, steadily widening the menu of regulated digital asset exposure.
