Nearly two months after returning to the U.K. with their children, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are feeling good about their return to public engagements.
On Thursday, October 15, the couple traveled to Nottingham, England, where they met with locals and volunteers who served at charitable organizations. The city holds special significance for Meghan and Harry as it’s where they had their first royal walkabout after announcing their engagement in 2017.
“Everyone came away feeling really positive and genuinely thrilled by the love and support they received,” a spokesperson for Harry and Meghan told People after the visit.

As she greeted well-wishers, Meghan shared a similar sentiment, reportedly telling those gathered, “It’s great to be back.” Harry echoed her words in a conversation with the BBC, saying, “Wonderful and great to be back in Nottingham too.”
Meghan nodded to their history with the city through her outfit, wearing a burgundy coat and plum skirt by British designers—a look that subtly recalled the ensemble she wore during their first joint appearance in Nottingham.
During their visit, the couple stopped at The Community Recording Studio, a charity that provides young people with access to music and recording tools, and Epic Partners, which supports children and families through education, mentoring, and more. Meghan also reunited with women from the Hubb Community Kitchen, whom she supported through a charity cookbook project following the 2017 Grenfell Tower fire. Embracing the women, she exclaimed, “It’s been too long!”
The visit comes as the Sussexes settle into their new routine in Britain. A source close to the couple recently told People that, after prioritizing their children’s transition to school, Harry and Meghan are now “both excited to focus more on their work and the projects that matter to them.”
