Nottingham Forest manager Oliver Glasner has said Morgan Gibbs-White and Nikola Milenković are doubts for Sunday’s Premier League fixture against Arsenal at the City Ground.
The two players could return to contention ahead of the match, with Milenković resuming training after several weeks out with a hamstring issue and bone bruising, while Gibbs-White is recovering from a minor muscle injury sustained against Crystal Palace.
However, Nicolò Savona and Igor Jesus remain unavailable for the fixture, according to an update published on Nottingham Forest’s official website on Friday.
Providing an update on his squad, Glasner said Milenković had returned to training but that the club would assess his response before deciding whether he could feature against Arsenal.
“Savona will still miss the game, and Igor (Jesus) as well.
“Milenković trained for the first time today, so we will see how he reacts. He could be in the matchday squad, but let’s see because he has been out for several weeks.
“Morgan Gibbs-White is doubtful. He couldn’t train the entire week with us, but it looks like he can join tomorrow’s session, and he had an individual session today with our rehab coaches.
“He suffered a minor muscle injury at Palace, so we have to see how he reacts today and how he deals with tomorrow’s session. Then I will take the final decision,” it read.
Glasner expressed hope that Gibbs-White would be available for the encounter, while acknowledging the injury challenges associated with a lengthy season and players returning from international duty.
“In a long season, this is a situation that happens, especially when players are going away and playing for their countries for more than two weeks.
“It’s not to blame anybody; it’s just that every manager has a different style of training, which the body has to get used to, with a different load.
“It doesn’t seem too serious, so there is a chance he will be available,” it concluded.
