KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan has yet to decide on its poster boy candidate for the upcoming Melaka election, including proposals to name former chief minister Adly Zahari.
PH communications director Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil acknowledged Adly's qualifications for the role, noting his previous tenure as Melaka Chief Minister.
"The PH Presidential Council has not discussed the matter and we leave it to the leadership.
"However, Adly certainly has the experience," he said after attending a RM5.2 billion financing document exchange ceremony for Digital Nasional Bhd today.
Asked if PH had finalised cooperation with Bersatu for the state election, Fahmi said the matter should be referred to PH election director Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
On Oct 12, Federal Territory Amanah deputy chief Hayatul Kamil reportedly said Adly, who is also Amanah vice-president, should be named as PH's main face for the Melaka election.
He said Adly's background as chief minister and his current service as deputy defence minister since December 2022 give him an advantage.
"Adly's experience in both positions gives him an edge in terms of administration compared with other PH leaders, who mostly served at the state level," he said.
