Pfutsero, Oct 21: Penalty shoot-outs require proper preparation, concentration and mental strength, said Kewengulo Lasushe, a noted businessman from the area, while addressing the Kuzha Tephe Sports Association Open Penalty Shoot-Out in Pfutsero on Wednesday as the special guest.
Lasushe said penalty shoot-outs should not be taken lightly, as they can decide the outcome of important football matches. Citing the FIFA World Cup, he stressed the need to practise penalty-taking regularly during training.
He also encouraged young players to make the most of opportunities in football at the state, national and international levels. Sports, he said, provide a platform for young people to develop their skills, showcase their talent and achieve success through hard work and dedication.
Drawing a parallel between sports and life, Lasushe said success requires consistent effort, daily practice and the determination to overcome challenges.
He also highlighted the importance of divine blessings and stressed that respecting and obeying elders and senior citizens are essential values in life.
Acknowledging his limited personal experience in sports, Lasushe thanked the organisers for the opportunity to address the gathering and sought the audience’s understanding.
The event was organised by the Kuzha Tephe Sports Association under the motto “Keson KuhloDe”. It brought participants together through football while promoting discipline, perseverance, respect and sportsmanship.
