Estonia Pledges Additional €10 Million to Ukraine Through NATO Initiative
Estonia will provide an additional €10 million to support Ukraine through NATO’s Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative, Prime Minister Kristen Michal announced on October 14 during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Tallinn.
The contribution will help fund the procurement of military equipment from the United States for Ukraine. Estonia has already contributed €21 million through the initiative.
Michal also said Estonia plans to invest €26 billion in national defence over the next decade, with half allocated directly to armaments and military capabilities.
Estonia’s defence spending is set to reach approximately 5.4% of GDP in 2026, as the country strengthens its military capabilities amid growing security concerns and what officials describe as an increase in Russian hybrid attacks.
