HP's Thunderbolt 4 dock just dropped to an all-time low on Amazon

If you're running a heavy workstation setup, especially with HP business laptops, the right dock is non-negotiable. You need reliable power delivery, stable connectivity for multiple monitors, and enough ports to ditch the dongle life.

The HP Thunderbolt Dock 280W G4 has been a staple in this category for a while, offering enterprise-grade features and massive power output. Right now, Amazon has cut the price significantly, taking $94 off, making it a much more attractive option for professionals looking to upgrade their desk setup.

Why this dock is worth the upgrade

The primary reason to grab the HP Thunderbolt Dock 280W G4 is its sheer power output. It supports up to 280W of power delivery to supported HP workstations, which is more than enough to charge even the most power-hungry HP ZBook or EliteBook models while simultaneously powering the dock's internal components.

If you're using a non-HP laptop, it still delivers up to 75W via USB-C, which covers most ultrabooks and standard business laptops with ease. This means you can run your entire setup from a single Thunderbolt 4 cable, keeping your desk clean and your workflow uninterrupted.

Beyond power, the connectivity options are where this dock truly shines. It features 11+ ports, including two DisplayPort 1.4 outputs, one HDMI 2.0 port, and a USB-C port with DisplayPort Alt Mode. This configuration allows you to connect up to four 4K displays at 60Hz, provided your host device supports the necessary bandwidth.

For most professionals, this means you can set up a robust multi-monitor environment without needing a dedicated graphics card in your laptop. The inclusion of a 2.5Gb Ethernet port ensures that your network connection remains fast and stable, which is crucial for large file transfers or video conferencing.

The dock also includes five USB ports: two USB-A 3.2 ports for data, two USB-A 3.2 ports with 7.5W charging for peripherals like mice and keyboards, and one USB-C 3.2 port for data and 15W charging. This variety means you can connect all your essential peripherals without running out of ports.

Additionally, the dock supports enterprise features like Sure Start firmware protection, wired vPro management, and Wake on LAN, which are vital for IT departments managing fleets of devices. Even if you're a power user, these features ensure that your connection is secure and reliable.

The HP Thunderbolt Dock 280W G4 is currently priced at $209.99 on Amazon, down from its typical price of $304.00. This represents a discount of nearly 31%, saving you $94. If you've been waiting for a better price on a high-end Thunderbolt dock, this is the moment to act.
