Have you ever felt slightly envious of the couple, family or friends living next door to you? Just a little bit? Well, we’re about to introduce you to a neighbour you certainly won’t envy, by way of Netflix’s upcoming mystery thriller, The Beast in Me. The streamer’s engrossing series centres around a reclusive author who finds herself playing a terrifying game of cat and mouse with the man next door - and it'll take you on a brilliantly addictive hunt for the truth about what he's hiding.
Claire Danes leads the series as said author Aggie Wiggs, while Matthew Rhys stars as her real estate mogul neighbour, Nile Jarvis, who was once the prime suspect in his wife’s disappearance. Having shut herself away from the world following the loss of her son, Aggie now has a real-life mystery to solve – and she won’t stop until she gets to the bottom of it.
With the series now available to stream in full, here’s everything you need to know about The Beast in Me, including the plot, cast and how to watch it.
What is The Beast in Me about?
The eight-part series centres around acclaimed author Aggie Wiggs (Claire Danes), who has receded from public life following the tragic death of her young son. With a serious case of writer's block, she’s become a ghost of her former self.
She finds an unlikely subject for a new book, however when the house next door is bought by Nile Jarvis (Matthew Rhys). Niles is a famed and formidable real estate mogul, who was also once the prime suspect in his wife’s disappearance.
Aggie is both horrified and fascinated by this man, and finds herself compulsively hunting for the truth — chasing his demons while fleeing her own — in a game of cat and mouse that could very easily turn deadly.
Is The Beast in Me based on a true story?
