TURA, Oct 17: The Tura Motor Sports Club (TMSC) has announced the dates for Moto X 2026 and Bilgaro-XI, two of its flagship motorsport events, with a new kids’ category introduced in this year’s motocross competition to encourage young talent.
The schedule was announced at a press conference held at Cariz in Bonepa, Tura, on Friday.
At the briefing, the club also felicitated rally driver Aneesh M. Sangma for his achievements at the Rally of Himalayas 2026, held in September. Sangma finished fifth in the Overall Extreme Category and secured first place in the T1 PCCV 4WD Class X3 (over 1,350cc up to 1,850cc) category.
His performance at the national-level rally has brought recognition to Garo Hills and Meghalaya and is expected to inspire aspiring drivers and riders in the region, club representatives said.
Both events will be held at Dodenanggre in Tura, with Moto X 2026 scheduled for October 30 and 31.
The two-wheeler motocross event will feature five categories: Beginners, Novice, Expert, 2-Stroke Open and Kids. The newly introduced kids’ category is aimed at nurturing young riders and providing them with an opportunity to develop their skills in a structured sporting environment.
Bilgaro-XI, the club’s flagship four-wheeler off-road competition, will follow from November 12 to 14. The event continues TMSC’s efforts to promote motorsport and off-road racing across the Northeast.
Motorsport and adventure tourism
The club also highlighted its broader ambition to position Tura and the Garo Hills region as a destination for adventure tourism. Such events, it said, can generate economic opportunities for local businesses, hospitality providers and workers.
Safety will remain a key priority, with TMSC coordinating with the district administration and police on track safety, emergency medical arrangements and spectator management.
The club thanked the Department of Tourism, its principal sponsor, along with supporting departments, volunteers and well-wishers for their contributions to the events.
