Nearly two years after it was first announced, Fleetwood Mac fans won’t have to wait much longer for Frank Marshall’s documentary about the legendary band to arrive on Apple TV. Here are the details.
’First-ever fully authorized Fleetwood Mac documentary’
Apple TV today confirmed the premiere date and title of its upcoming Fleetwood Mac documentary film, directed by Frank Marshall (The Beach Boys, From Earth to the Moon).
As the platform confirmed earlier today in a post on X, “Fleetwood Mac: The Chain” is set to premiere on Friday, January 29, 2027.
Apple TV says “Fleetwood Mac: The Chain” offers fans “a definitive and unprecedented look at Fleetwood Mac’s story, bringing together the voices, memories and perspectives of Grammy Award-winning Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks.”
“Fleetwood Mac: The Chain” will join Apple TV’s growing catalog of music documentaries, which already includes “Beastie Boys Story,” “The Velvet Underground,” “Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry,” “Louis Armstrong’s Black & Blues,” and “Bono: Stories of Surrender,” among others.
Here’s a little more more of what Apple TV had to say about “Fleetwood Mac: The Chain”:
Following their fortuitous meeting in 1974, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks reflect on their uncompromising 50-plus-year history, from their record-breaking recordings and tours — including never-before-seen footage and exclusive new interviews — through to today. The film explores how the band’s trials and tribulations, personal resilience and musical dexterity combined to create songs that have stood the test of time and are enduring masterpieces. It takes fans through the highs and lows of their brilliant career, illuminating the exceptional ingredients each member brought to the band’s uncommon alchemy — a musical union that sold more than 220 million records worldwide. The documentary explores what allowed this combination of artists to create singular musical work again and again, and what drew them back together and held them there when every possible pressure, both outside and inside the band, threatened to blow them apart.
While there’s no full trailer for “Fleetwood Mac: The Chain” just yet, Apple TV has shared a short teaser on X, which you can watch below:
