Canada.- Foreign Minister Víctor “Ito” Bisonó inaugurated a new office of the Institute of Dominicans Abroad (INDEX) in Canada to strengthen ties with the Dominican community and support initiatives that contribute to the country’s development.
The new office, inaugurated during Bisonó’s official visit to Canada, will work to strengthen Dominican community organizations, identify their needs and connect professionals, entrepreneurs and diaspora groups with projects in the Dominican Republic.
Bisonó said the initiative reflects President Luis Abinader’s vision of strengthening the integration of Dominicans abroad and leveraging their knowledge, experience and skills to create opportunities both in Canada and the Dominican Republic.
He described the INDEX office as a meeting point where Dominican residents can raise concerns, strengthen their organizations and develop initiatives through training, knowledge exchange and partnerships.
Celinés Toribio, Vice Minister for Dominican Communities Abroad and executive director of INDEX, said the new representation will seek to better understand the needs of Dominicans across Canada and promote their participation in initiatives aligned with their interests.
